LFFFPOs Hosts Strategic Policy Roundtable, Sets Stage for Key Reforms

The Liberia Federation of Forest and Farm Producer Organizations convened a high-level one-day policy round table meeting on Thursday, April 2, 2026, bringing together critical stakeholders in Liberia’s land, forestry, and agriculture sectors.

The meeting, held in a collaborative and forward-looking atmosphere, assembled 13 Apex Executives alongside representatives from key government land ministries and agencies. The gathering served as a vital platform for dialogue, coordination, and policy alignment aimed at strengthening governance and sustainability within Liberia’s forest and farm production landscape.

A United Front for Policy Advancement

Participants engaged in in-depth discussions on existing policies affecting forest and farm producer organizations, focusing on challenges, gaps, and opportunities for reform. The presence of both policymakers and sector leaders ensured that conversations reflected practical realities on the ground while aligning with national development priorities.

The roundtable emphasized the importance of inclusive decision-making, transparency, and stronger institutional collaboration. Stakeholders acknowledged that effective policy implementation requires not only sound frameworks but also continuous engagement with those directly impacted—especially rural producers and community-based organizations.

Agreement on Policy Validation Process

One of the key outcomes of the meeting was a unanimous agreement among Apex Executives and stakeholders to convene a follow-up validation meeting. This upcoming session will focus on reviewing and refining critical policy documents to ensure they are comprehensive, relevant, and responsive to the needs of the sector.

The validation process is expected to incorporate broader stakeholder input, reinforcing credibility and ownership of the policies before final adoption and implementation.

Looking Ahead

The initiative marks a significant step toward strengthening Liberia’s forest and farm governance systems. By fostering collaboration between government institutions and producer organizations, LFFFPOs continues to play a pivotal role in advocating for sustainable land use, improved livelihoods, and environmental stewardship.

As preparations begin for the validation meeting, stakeholders remain optimistic that the outcomes will lead to more effective policies that empower local communities, promote economic growth, and ensure the sustainable management of Liberia’s natural resources.
